Birth/ Labor/Postpartum Doula

 A birth and labor doula is a trained professional who provides non-medical support to birthing people and their families before, during, and after labor and birth. 

  Doulas can help with: 

• Emotional support- Reassuring and encouraging the birthing person, and helping them feel safe, empowered, and respectedshift in the client’s energetic system. This shift moves through subtle, energetic bodies and eventually manifests in the physical realm.

• Physical support-Helping with breathing techniques, massage, and relaxation, and helping the birthing person find a comfortable position

• Informational support- Providing information about procedures and actions that will take place during and after labor, and helping the birthing person form questions 

• Advocacy-Helping to advocate for the birthing person's needs with hospital staff 

• Postpartum support- Helping with feeding, adjusting to life at home, and other aspects of caring for the newborn 

Doulas are not clinical providers and cannot provide health care or advice. They work with the birthing person's values, wishes, and best interests in mind.  

What are the benefits of a doula?

• Think of a doula as a resource you and your partner can rely on throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and beyond. A doula can provide physical, emotional, and informational support in many ways:

• More coping methods: Your doula can suggest ways to help ease the stress and pain of labor. For example, they can show you breathing techniques or help find a more comfortable position as you work through contractions. Your doula will help you through labor pain and support your decision to get an epidural, even bring aromatherapy and massage your feet for you.

• Fewer interventions: Studies have shown that doulas can decrease the need for assisted vaginal delivery and lower the likelihood of cesarean birth. If you do end up needing a cesarean, a doula can still provide reassurance and support. Your birth doula may even be able to go with you to the operating room, if you wish, instead of a partner or other support person.

• An unbiased resource: Our Doulas are trained to point you to evidence-based resources, so you can stay informed and empowered throughout your pregnancy and birth. They can also help you assemble your birth plan by asking questions you may not have considered. Do you want the baby placed on your chest right after birth? Will you bank your baby’s umbilical cord blood? Our souls are great at this.

• An advocate: Once you’re in labor, the doula can be a voice for your birth plan, helping to make your preferences known to your health care team. Your doula can also help you make decisions in the moment. (Sometimes surprises happen, and new choices need to be made.)

• Another pair of hands: A doula can relieve some pressure from your partner, family members, and friends. 

• Better communication: Doulas can help navigate confusing situations. They can remind doctors and nurses to explain medical terms and ensure that you always know what is going on.

• Extra attention: Your doctor and nurses can’t be in the room for every minute of your labor, as they need to tend to other patients. Having a doula there at all times can help you feel relaxed, calm, and fully supported.

• Postpartum support: Some birth doulas continue working with their patients for up to 8 weeks after delivery, while others specialize in postpartum care. Either way, they can support your recovery process, from breastfeeding to managing sleep schedules.

• A more satisfying birth experience: People who use birth doulas often report having a more positive childbirth experience.

• Acknowledge and support your desired methods of coping with labor as we take each challenge minute by minute. I offer:
  • Movement, breathing and other pain management techniques
  • Encouragement, visualization, and power statements
  • Physical comfort tools: massage, acupressure, hot/cold packs, aromatherapy, TENS unit, and more…
• Assist your partner, offering reassurance, guidance, and emotional comfort for you and their experience.
• Advocate for you by:
  • Facilitating communication between you and your medical team
  • Offering access to information about benefits, risks, and alternatives to any procedure before you make a decision
  • Encouraging you to ask questions and stand up for what you feel is suitable for you and your baby

This Package includes:

•  2 virtual prenatal visits
•  unlimited support throughout the duration of your labor (via text, phone calls and/or video calls), 
• 1 virtual postpartum visit-We will tackle prenatal education, labor support, feeding and newborn care.

* Support lasting longer than 8 hrs-will be billed at $55/hr. Must have printed detailed

birth plan already created or purchase creation service.

A doula will discuss your vison as well as options for birth, and prepare a typed detailed birth plan for you to provide to your OBGYN or Midwife. This session is 1 hr and 30 mins. 

I will help you troubleshoot any lactation issues virtually

$150 for a video call session to troubleshoot any new issues and/or transitions.

• Engorgement.

Continuity of care package-  

Option A- $8500 for birth doula services, and ten (10) overnights of postpartum doula support.

This package includes:

• unlimited prenatal support/communication through text and email
•  2 prenatal visits
•  labor support for the birth of your baby and 10 overnights of postpartum doula support.

 This package will allow me to support you through your pregnancy, the birth of your baby, and a smooth transition into parenthood.

Option B- $13,200 for birth doula services, and twenty(20) overnights of postpartum doula support.

This package includes:

•  unlimited prenatal support/communication through text and email,
•  2 prenatal visits,
•  labor support for the birth of your baby
•  20 overnights of postpartum doula support. 

Option C- Inquire about a customizable package to meet your personal/family needs.
